Stickler

I spent some serious time yesterday contemplating whether to read Patriot Games (first in terms of storyline for the Jack Ryan books) or The Hunt for Red October (published first). After some digging, I discovered that Patriot Games was actually written first, but wasn't published until after the success of Red October. Still, I felt it was wrong -- I mean, in 1984 when this all started, readers didn't have a choice. Red October was their first introduction to Jack Ryan and all his coolness. But it's 2008 now, and I do have a choice and I was sincerely torn. I went with Patriot Games, because that was the order that Clancy actually wrote them in, but I'm still not 100% on my decision. Also, Clancy is not so much with the dialogue. I might not make it to Red October.
