Dissonance

Tonight, we went to Max and Sam's band concert -- pieces by the fifth, sixth, and seventh grade bands. Whilst listening to the beautiful music (by the end, you could appreciate the progression), I was distracted by a few things. The little fifth-grade boy playing the clarinet and counting beats with his free hand. How many kids did or did not keep rhythm with their feet. And how, on god's green earth, did Max's pants get so short? We just bought them for his Christmas concert! Did he shrink them in the wash? Did he grab last year's black pants by mistake? Did he actually fucking grow that much?

It was really hard to concentrate, people. Luckily, by the time the jazz band came on to play "Jungle Boogie," I was able to gather myself.
