What's it like to be a skateboard punk rocker?

I've had Anchorage by Michelle Shocked stuck in my head all day -- well, truth be told, for a few months now. When the old friend muses, all surprised, "I sound like a housewife/I think I'm a housewife," it kills me, mostly because that is exactly how I feel lately. Not that I was ever the urban sophisticate, but I liked to pretend to be a city girl, at least. Talking to Leigh this afternoon, I described our hectic day yesterday, juggling the kids, getting dinner, J.R.'s appointment, going to the mall, mailing out Christmas cards. And there it was: my life. In all its suburban, soccer-mom-like glory.
