Is that anything like a torture taco?

Jen, in her infinite wisdom, e-mailed me this morning to tell me about kummerspeck, a German word to describe weight gain from emotional overeating. How cool that they have a single word for that -- in English, I call it "training for the buffet team" (also courtesy of Jen). But what is even better about kummerspeck is that it literally means "grief bacon." Grief. Bacon. Grief bacon.

This is the greatest thing ever. Thank you, Smithsonian magazine. And thank you whoever bought Jen the subscription to Smithsonian. And thank you, Jen, for actually reading it. My world is so much ... richer now.
